Recession does not mean housing crisis
It is very important to note that the housing crisis caused the great recession, the recession did not cause the housing crisis. The Great Recession was an anomaly.

6 out of 6 the last six recessions, mortgage rates improved. Over the past six recessions, mortgage rates have fallen an average of 2.35 percentage points from the peak seen during the recession to the trough.
